Wichita Kansas
Wichita, Kansas; is a city located in the south central Kansas. It is on the banks of the Arkansas River on the mouth of the little Arkansas.
The originators of this city were the North American People of Indian stock. They lived on the existence of farming and hunting of buffaloes. In their farms they cultivated corn, maize, pumpkin and tobacco. Their life styles consisted of living in conical houses made of poles and thatch. During their hunting expeditions they used a form of modern day tenting. Conical tents made of animal skin. The other part of their life styles includes tattooing. They were called the tattooing people by the other tribes.
In the year 1864 the city was used as a trading post, then a village of Wichita Indians. The village developed into a city due to the Texas cattle trade. The next step to development was the growth of agriculture in this belt. The agriculture belt developed up to Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway, these places then under construction. By the year 1875 the fences constructed by the farmers in this belt hindered the movement of cattle. Once the movement of cattle was cut to lead it to its watering holes, ranch owners decided to cut down on the growth of cattle. This led to a shortage of Beef. And yet once again the intake of corn and its substitutes increased as was done in the olden times by their ancestors.
Present day implications are; economy has developed due to some of the industries mentioned below.

A number of universities are located in and around Wichita Kansas city. To name a few, Friends University (established in the year 1898), Kansas Newman college, (established in the year 1933. Formerly it was known as the Sacred Heart College) and the Wichita state university founded in the year 1895. Education wise the Wichita state offers to the country some forty masters degree programs, three education specialist programs and ten doctorate programs. The Wichita university encompasses the following under its wings; the W. Frank Barton School of Business, Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the Graduate School, and colleges of Education, Engineering, Fine Arts, and Health Professions. The university that I am talking about was founded by the Congregational church. The first name of it was Fairmount College. In the year 1926 the city of Wichita took control of the college and it was converted into the municipal university of Wichita. With this it became the first university west of the Mississippi river. After the university became the part of the Kansas Board of Regents its name was changed again to the Wichita State University.
The McConnell Air Force Base is located near by. With the growth and development came the dwindling numbers of the tribesmen. The estimated population of the tribesmen in the year 1780 was 3200. In the 20th century the population dwindled to 500.
